DEAR FRIENDS
WE ARE PLEASED TO TELL YOU THAT LEE FOUND A DONOR AND SURGERY WAS A SUCCESS. BOTH LEE AND THE DONOR ARE RECOVERING IN THE HOSPITAL.
WE’D LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR HELP SO FAR. MANY OF YOU HAVE ASKED HOW YOU CAN HELP US. WHAT WE NEED NOW IS FINANCIAL HELP. LEES DONOR WILL NEED OUR SUPPORT DURING THIS PROCESS. DURING THE SIX WEEK RECOVERY PERIOD THE DONOR WILL NEED HELP WITH HIS RENT, MEDICAL CARE NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE AND OTHER EXPENCES.
LEE WILL BE COVERED MEDICALLY BUT WILL NEED FUNDS FOR TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE HOSPITAL TWICE WEEKLY FOR THREE MONTHS.
IF YOU COULD SEND EVEN A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
BOTH LEE AND I ARE OVERWHELMED BY ALL THE SUPPORT SO FAR. WE COULD NOT HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR WITHOUT YOU. WE LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH.
Or, you can look at the hospital’s information website at:
I am looking forward to getting back to rockin’
!
Positive vibes,
Lee
What is Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC)?
Primary sclerosing cholangitis is a disease primarily of the bile ducts, both inside and outside the liver. The ducts of the gallbladder and pancreas may also be involved. The walls of the bile ducts become inflamed (cholangitis). The inflammation causes scarring and hardening (fibrosis) that narrows the bile ducts. Since bile cannot drain properly through the ducts, it accumulates in the liver causing damage to liver cells. Eventually, so much bile is accumulated, it seeps into the bloodstream. Finally, with long term cell damage, the liver develops cirrhosis (hardening or fibrosis) and it can no longer function properly.
